May 3rd... Happy Birth Day!

Well Matthew Gianni has finally arrived! Here is the story... On Sunday morning at 12:00 I started having mild contractions. Which when I say mild it was still painful!... They started getting extremely strong and closer together. By 4:30ish we called the doctor and she said as soon as they started getting to 5 minutes apart in an hour then I could head on to the hospital. Well they definitely got stronger.. We headed to the hospital but first we dropped off Sadie at mom's and picked up mom and headed to the hospital. As soon as we got there they asked if I wanted to take the epidural and of course my answer was YES!! I was 3cm dilated when they took me inside the delivery room. Once I got the epidural and it took effect I was up to 4cm. I stayed that way for a while. Dr. Jaeger decided to give me petocin which speeded things up. My cervix was very thin and I started dilating a bit quicker. The baby did not like the contractions so they had to put me on oxygen and an IV of sugar. Eventually everything went back to normal and the baby's hearbeat stabilized once more. Once I was dilated to 9/10 centimeters we started the pushing.. Okay seriously it was one of those type of pains that you will maybe not remember vividly but definitely will not forget. I think the worst part of it all is that you think you are pushing with all your might.. which you are but still it does not seem like enough! But finally after much pushing and Dr. Jaeger coming in and letting me know the only option I had was to either push it out or he would vacuum it out... (and he was very firm so I knew I had to do it) I kept pushing...until Matthew finally came.. granted that it also helped when the Dr. gave me the episiotomy. When that took place Matthew just came out. The umbilical cord was wrapped around him twice but that did not seem to be a problem. Thank God! Matthew was born at 7:46pm. He was born with a fever, but he was precious. The cutest baby ever! I was numb from the episiotomy so David went with the baby as he got weighed and measured. I stayed behind to get my legs back to normal so I could get up by myself. I had to do this in order to get upstairs to our permanent room. David got to see the baby take his first bath! Once I was upstairs Matthew was supposed to come to the room with us but unfortunately he had some fluids in his lungs and his fever had not gone away so they had to keep him in the nursery until today. He came to our room around 5:30 this morning. He was perfectly fine and healthy but the nurse took him back with her so the doctor could check him one more time and do the last of the blood work. They brought him back to our room at around 9:30ish and has been here ever since. He really is a cutie and we love him very much. God has blessed us with a beautiful baby! As he sleeps right now I am amazed at the amazing gift God has bestowed upon us.

May 1st, May 2nd.. No go...

Well Matthew has decided to stall for a bit.. His original due date was may 1st but he decided not to arrive then.. Extremely early this morning I thought my water broke during sleep but it wasn't so. I asked the doctor on call if he still wanted me to come in and he said yes for precaution reasons. We headed to the hospital at around 6ish.. dropped Sadie off at mom's and then headed to the hospital. It was uncomfortable sitting in triage for so many hours. Water is still intact...did not break... and I have not dilated anymore. Dr. Dill decided to keep me longer though due to one of the Braxton Hicks contractions was 6 minutes long and the baby's hearbeat went from super fast to super slow.. so they kept me until 11:30am so they could monitor they baby and me. Everything turned fine.. Matthew is doing great. We have an appointment on Monday and and appointment to induce on Wednesday if he doesn't come sooner. So we will see. We were disappointed and exhausted by the time we left the hospital. WE are very ready to meet our son... if he wasn't so stubborn like his parents and just come out that would be great! LOL!! We will definitely keep you updated...hopefully next time I blog we will have a bundle of joy in the house! And photos to go along with that..

Almost there.. we hope!

We went to the doctor's this past week and so far we are 3 cm dilated.. the baby's head is very low. The doctor doesn't know how I am able to walk. We are hoping that Matthew arrives on or before his due date. If he does not then we are scheduled to be induced next Wednesday. But we are really hoping he comes at his schedule time or today! I am very tired. It is extremely uncomfortable to sleep and I have been getting some false labor contractions.. Matthew likes to stretch and that is pretty uncomfortable. The heartburn is getting worse. My hands are swollen and they hurt. SO I guess you can say that I am very ready, to finally meet our son.

In other news.. I did have an interview yesterday and it went really well. I thoroughly enjoyed the principal and I loved the school. I am really hoping that she will call after the transfer period is over which is on May 15th. So we will see. I will definitely keep you updated and definitely stay tuned for Matthew's arrival!

Appointment and Interview

On my last appointment we met a new doctor.. no changes.. still 1 cm dilated... I have one more appointment to go and then Matthew is supposed to arrive.. we shall see... David begins his vacation time and I already started maternity leave which is wonderful! I love being able to rest and sleep. I know I will not be able to do that once Matthew arrives.

I went on an interview today and I don't think it was anything to brag about... the principal did not seem very interested. She seemed to know who she wanted in that position already.. so I am still putting my resume at different schools and hopefully I can go on some interviews before Matthew arrives.. we shall see!

We will keep you updated on Matthew so stay tuned...

Easter, Appointment and overall Life update!

Easter was a great ending to a wonderful Spring Break! We went to church and then went to mom's for lunch. It was nice and relaxing. We ate tons of food and I was so tired we went home early.

My last appointment was good. The doctor approximated Matthew's weight and she said he was about 7lbs. I am 1 centimeter dilated and Matthew is head down getting ready for delivery. He is moving so much its kind of hard to sleep at night. So I am so tired throughout the day. My next appointment is next Wednesday so we shall see what progress we have made..

Although I am ready for Matthew to come out he needs to wait just a little bit.. The transfer period is at the end of April. It begins April 27th. I have already put my resume in for two schools for Kindergarten positions. So I am hoping something works out. One of the schools already contacted me to set up an interview this coming week. I pray it goes well!

Matthew's Nursery

So finally I post photos of the nursery.. its not one hundred percent finished the way I wanted it to be but since I am so exhausted most of the time it is done for now! I am sure once Matthew has made his big arrival I will change some things for example.. the frames on the baby wall.. I do not like them so those will be changed when I find the right ones! And I am still missing a small shelf on the wall which may get put up before Matthew arrives. Above the glider I know what the frame I want up there I just have not gotten yet... So yes it is still a work in progress! Well our nursery is pretty plain. We did not do a "theme" because its just not our thing. So we went we neutral colors. The walls are a light khaki... that way whenever baby #2 comes...he/or she can go right in and all we have to do is add accent colors! So Matthew's colors are brown, blue and light green. His bedding is this color and most of the lettering I have done is this color also. The furniture is cherry wood although in the photos it looks much darker. I don't think the photos look all that great.. I think the room looks better when you are in it! There is a wall with photos of me and David when we were babies and the middle photo will obviously be of Matthew when he is here! His drawers are full of clothes and his closet is very well maintained! He already has a great collection of shoes (just like his mommy!) I LOVE the closet organizer our friends Pete and Melissa got us! It is so great for someone mildly OCD about organization...There is also a dresser in the closet which is holding clothes for his later stages in life. I mean when I see a sale on clothes its kind of hard to resist getting it.. especially when its a great deal and so darn cute!

Baby Shower 2

On Saturday March 28th I had my second baby shower at mom's church (UCOG!). It was a wonderful shower.. I was really exhausted and you could tell in some of the photos. There were lots of good food and great friends. I got lots of great stuff for baby! The car was full of stuff and David was surprised to see so much stuff! Below are some photos of the great event!

The pregnancy is going well. Although I have been getting horrible heartburn again. Yuck! My appointments are weekly now so this week we met with the doctor. She wasn't that great with her bedside manner so I am praying she is not the one that delivers the baby! But when she checked she said I was 80% effaced. Which simply means that the cervix is thinning and shortens out and gets ready for dilation. So maybe on the next appointment she will tell me that dilation has occurred. So we shall see! I will definitely keep you updated!

Spring Break has been great! I am not looking forward to returning to work this coming Monday.. actually I am not even going to think about it.. so this is where I stop this subject.
I do begin my maternity leave on April 22nd so it will be nice to be home before Matthew arrives! Well until the next post...
